London is in the grip of an unnatural darkness. Rose is in the grasp of an unrelenting power and Raven and Thistle, along with their supernatural allies, are battling to survive and find a way to restore their home city.
For the fey, the song remains the same. They must return the power to Faerie or die. Unfortunately for them, the task has been superseded by an even more important one - help save Earth or perish along with it!
For Rose, the stakes are even higher as she is forced to make a terrible deal that will damn her if she does and damn her if she doesn’t.
Now enemies must work together as allies if they are to save their worlds from an ancient threat…

4 of 5 stars

I have been looking forward to Crimson Darkness ever since reading Crimson Midnight. The second book in the series is packed full of action, adventure, and danger. After London was plunged into darkness, everybody left is fighting to save themselves and the world as they knew it. All of our favorite characters are back, and there are some new players who I am very interested in reading more about. Rose is struggling with some decisions she has had to make and some new information she has to deal with about herself.

Crimson Darkness was much darker and more sinister than the first book. You can see the definitive shift from the old world to the new one and the toll the stress of fighting every moment for life has taken on the characters. Tension is high and everyone knows that likely disaster is imminent.

Once again the storyline was unpredictable and exciting. I love being surprised every step of the way. And, oh my God do the authors know how to write a cliffhanger! I will not be able to get my hands on the next book to find out what happens soon enough!!

I was lucky enough to get a personal interview with the lovely Thistle.  Read on to find out everything you've ever wanted to know about the feisty vampire!

Thanks for meeting with us today Thistle.  We know you're busy, so we won't take up too much of your time.  We'll start with the easy questions first…what's your favorite color?
Thistle: Purple. It’s so sexy, don’t you think?

Before all hell broke loose, what did you do to keep yourself busy when you were not hanging out with the werewolves?
Thistle: Party, party and read. I love reading. Give me a good steamy novel any time. I love to party. Being right there in a club or in a bar – it’s just so joyful. I don’t just love the nightlife because of me being a vampire and all that. I love the nightlife because it is fabulous. I love nights in London, the way it is all lit up, the atmosphere of the big city, the people, the music... I love to dance, to sing. Well, I loved nights in London, should I say, before... I miss those days.

What's on your iPod (um, do you still have your iPod)? See, easy questions.
Thistle: I like your questions, Sheri. You are fabulous. No, my iPod was destroyed. But you would have found some Prince, Peaches, Pet Shop Boys and Madonna on there. I really miss my iPod. It was purple. My mission is to get a new one at some point.

What's the best part about being a vampire? The worst?
Thistle: The best? The way all of my senses can experience the fine details of everything. The world is in full colour when you’re so switched on and connected to it like a vampire is. The sex is also rather wonderful.

The worst? My job as executioner. I had to do it, I know, but I found it hard. However, justice is justice. There has to be order.

Do you think vampires have gotten a bad reputation from the myths and legends that (everyday) people have fed? What is your favorite vampire story?
Thistle: Hmmm, I don’t think so really. The subject of vampires is so rich and there is a lot to play with. Vampires can feed that desire for the immortal lover to come and save you from a mundane life, or used as a tool for horror – sometimes even both. There isn’t really anything you can do about it. People will always write about us, put their spin on us with mythology and all that jazz. It can be very entertaining.

My favourite vampire story is The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice. What a naughty boy! He is also a very complex and sad character. I enjoyed that very much indeed.

Now here come the harder questions…Now that the world is basically falling apart, what is your relationship like with Roman? With Rose?
Thistle: So much is happening, it’s hard... I love Rose dearly. She continues to amaze me with her strength and her determination. I just wish this craziness would slow down so we could have some girl time, you know? I miss that. It felt like I found my best friend and then she was ripped away. These are the days we live in right now. I could really do with a cocktail and a night out with Rose. It makes me sad. I will be there for her as best as I can, every step of the way.

Roman... I don’t really know how to answer that. Every time I look at him my heart breaks a little more. He is so lost and I wish I could help him. He’s a special guy, he really is. He’s just in a very dark place. Everything he’s ever known has been ripped away from him. He’s so angry... *shakes her head and says no more*

How is the vampire community handling the darkness? What are they doing to fight back?
Thistle: Every day is a struggle. We hold onto hope. That is all we can do. We fight with what we have, but it’s hard. The things in the dark are relentless. We’ve lost so many... Hope. That is what keeps us going...

What are you afraid of right now? What are your hopes for the future?
Thistle: This darkness spilling out into the world. If we fail, the consequences of that terrify me more than anything. We to have to stop this, we just have to. That is my greatest hope for the future – that we save the world beyond the darkness before it is devoured.

 * Thistle smiles sweetly*

Well, I can feel the pull of the Crimson universe wanting me back. It has been nice sitting here with you in this little pocket between realities. That is a lovely lamp. Okay, thanks, Sheri, for the fabulous interview. See you again...

Thanks again for meeting with us Thistle.  Good luck!

And a huge thanks to Alana at Dark Obsession Chronicles for helping me with my interview questions!
